The Mars rover Perseverance has made a very exciting discovery. A Mars rock might show traces of microbial life. This rock has traces of bright spots surrounded by a dark rim. These spots contain iron and phosphorus. The Mars rover Perseverance has already conducted these analyses. Such spots or traces are called “leopard spots” on Earth and are often the result of microbial biology, according to NASA. However, this process can also have abiotic causes.
